Sea Ridge Reserve is a private, natural, retreat in the coastal mountain range of Costa Rica’s Southern Zone, overlooking Uvita and Playa Ballena. The vast majority of its hundreds of hectares have never been disturbed by human activity and remain home to all manner of wildlife. The existing improvements were installed by a previous owner to establish a personal retreat and nature reserve, and to offer facilities for a limited number of guests, staff, and necessary equipment. More than 25 fincas, united under single ownership, are located in 3 clusters stretching from the base of the Diamante Falls to the leading edge of the coastal mountains. The included residence at Sea Ridge Reserve is majestically perched along the ocean view edge of the coastal mountain range. Combined with its elevation of 2500 feet above sea level, the residence offers enormously expansive views of the entire Costa Ballena region of the Southern Zone, including the “Whale’s Tail” beach, Playa Ballena. Its monumental 30,000 SF includes spaces for living, exhibits, guests, nature research, reception, and offices. The entire structure is integrated into the terrain, floating over a series of pools and guided streams of natural water descending from a waterfall a few kilometers to the northeast.
The future scenarios for Sea Ridge Reserve range from maintaining its natural beauty and facilities as within the original vision, to a number of selective new scenaruios that would allow tourists, investors, educators, and researchers, to enjoy its environment, as well. Resources like water and electricity are available throughout the property, but final commitments for development scenarios will be subject to municipal codes and approvals.
